Clarity Wedge

Clarity wedge is an inexpensive instrument used to determine turbidity of water samples. It determines not just the level, but it estimates and tracks water changes as well. Clarity wedge is used to measure the distance of an image to extinction by viewing horizontally through a fluid inside the vessel. The vertically tapered body with opposing viewing and target plate allows for a range of viewing distanced from 0 to 20 cm. This gives an approximation of turbidity values from about 50 NTU and above.

Uses:
  • Ideal for quick checks of rinse water and other dirty water applications.
  • Includes scale with numbered lines that are simply used as a point of reference. This unit is not intended to give an exact value in ppm.

Benefits:
  • Being a manual tool, the wedge doesn’t need any batteries or sensitive electronics that are prone to breakage under rugged field conditions.
  • It can be a routine measuring tool or back-up equipment for electronic gadgets.
  • Aside from measuring turbidity, wedge provides an opportunity for observation of other characteristics of the sample material like the types of suspended, floating, or settling material, color, etc.,
  • Hands on contact can help eliminate the common tendency of electronics to provide unwanted values which may result from instrument malfunction or reading error.
  • Only costs a fraction of the price of an electronic instrument.
